New ICC code is studied, adopted and then final rules are made in many States, as to how various parts of the code will be enforced and/or modified.
In Louisiana, the Uniform Code Council has mandated as of Jan 1st 2015, all new homes must have a ACCA manual J, S, & D (or equivalent) presented at time of permitting. Also the home must be infiltration and duct leakage tested before occupancy.
Many contractors are complaining this is cumbersome. Yet isn’t it time ALL new homes were held to at least some level of quality when it comes to energy efficiency?
